Reader's Review:
Redeeming Love is a beautiful love story based on the book of Hosea. Set in California during the gold-mining rush of the 1850s, it tells the story of Angel, a young girl sold into prostitution. Angel learns how to survive by denying her own emotions, that is until Michael arrives one day to rescue her. Slowly her defences come down as Michael, whom Angel marries, loves and cherishes her, yet Angel's biggest test is not to learn to love Michael, but to learn to love God and to trust in his redeeming love. The novel picks up on many themes, but in particular shows how it is easy to forgive others, but not ourselves; how we put other gods before God; and how we make our own plans, trusting in ourselves instead of giving all to God. The book ultimately shows how life is never easy, but God knows the plans he has for us if we just trust in him. The story will probably appeal more to ladies, but will be enjoyed by men too!
